Dragon Ball FighterZ is a downloadable fighting game where you fight using a team of three characters. The clash is however just between two players, the remaining two characters are most of the time waiting as a backup. You can change the character you control at any time. It is advisable to do so frequently because every now and then you need to regenerate the life bar.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is the production of the Japanese studio Arc System Works. This is a real treat for the fans of the Dragon Ball manga franchise created by Akira Toriyama in 1984. The title is available on Windows, as well as on Xbox One and PS4.

The Story
Dragon Ball FighterZ is set in a world inhabited by superheroes. In this world, strange waves were detected. They weaken the strongest warriors, and this means that both the good and the evil fighters are robbed of most of their strength.
What’s more, the clones of the warriors suddenly appear and they wreak havoc. In the body of Goku, the main character enters the soul of a mysterious warrior. With its help, from now on, it will be possible to control chaos and the fighters who are not normally able to fight due to the weakness of their powers.
The Characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ
In the game you can choose between the following characters (who are mostly male):
- Male: Android 16, Beerus (with Whis), Captain Ginuy (with Ginyu Force), Cell, Freiza, Gohan (the adult and adolescent versions), Goku (with Zamasu), Gotenks, Hit, Kid Buu, Krillin, Majin Buu, Nappa (in company with Saibamen), Trunks, Piccolo, Tien Shinhan (with Chaotzu), Vegeta and Ymcha.
- Feminine: only the robots Android 17, Android 18 and Android 21.
The Gameplay
The combat system is only seemingly very easy. The first layer is a system of automatic combos that anyone, even a less-trained player, can handle. More advanced techniques, however, require more manual efficiency. You will have to masters unexpected combos, learn how to make use of special effects, and internalize the skillful use of Assist moves.
The duels are fast and furious. They are also a pleasure to watch. Most of the time, the characters float in the air. For about twenty strokes you receive a prize in the form of dragon balls. You must collect seven of them during a duel, and this will allow you to summon a vicious dragon which will grant you one of the four wishes from those suggested by the game.
On the battlefield, you will need a well-prepared team. There are heroes, fast and weak, and there are those slower but mighty. Each of them has both strengths and weaknesses.
Once you gain more experience, not only will you have to know how to strike, you will also need to learn to predict what the rival will do.
The team attacks allow you to hit the opponent with more than one character. In these super attacks, the characters chosen by the players stand side by side, pushing against the opponent with a double, and sometimes even triple force. Calling upon all three heroes allows you to use their various techniques to perform often amazing combinations. They are presented and taught in the training mode, but you will be able to learn them in the story mode as well.
The buttons in the game are divided into several sections which are for weak, medium and strong blows respectively. There are also those that are meant for special attacks and these require using truly bizarre combinations. That’s why it’s much better to use the gamepad.
As for the visual side, the game’s very colorful, and warriors characters of look like their cartoon counterparts from the comic books and the movies. The music in the game is also carefully refined. The sound perfectly matches the situation on the screen.
