The Game Review
Once a server and game mode are selected, the players are thrown into a lobby with the other players, a feature reminiscent of Counter-Strike and Fortnite, however, there is a difference. The waiting area is a minigun game where the player upgrades their weapon with each kill. The players are thrown into a dome after the waiting period. They can choose which part of the dome they wish to land and upon landing start with a knife. The setting is that of an abandoned Earth where everything is deserted and the only people there are the players. A plasma field surrounds the dome which slowly closes in on the players over the passage of 30 minutes.
There are weapons and supporting items scattered all over the dome and the players are free to select them. The capacity to hold this inventory, however, is limited which is why the players must choose between their options. Items can be dropped to pick up different supplies. Items can also be gathered from other eliminated players who leave their collected things behind. The weapons that are used in the game include Desert Eagle pistols, AK47 assault rifles, shotguns, snipers, grenades and many more.
The movement of the players is slick and the combat follows a similar pattern. The players are quicker than players would be in games like PUBG. Also, Islands of the Nyne is much more skill oriented and you have no other option but to fight to survive. The game focuses more on the first person shooter aspect rather than other more tactical aspects which makes it fun to play.
Points are awarded after each death and a player can increase their rank as they gain more points. A player ranks up each time they gain 100 points. After each rank up, a new armor is given to the player which makes the higher ranked players more distinguishable, however, it does not give them any advantage over lower ranked players. Each player sets foot inside the dome on equal footing.
