Like most people in their 30’s, I am a huge fan of Super Mario. Originally a Wii U launch title, New Super Mario Bros U like more than a few other big hitters on the Wii U has made its way to the Nintendo Switch. So read on.

The Game Review
Let me start by saying that this is another fantastic 2D Super Mario adventure. Once again Peach has been kidnapped and you need to get her back. There are the usual things you would expect her. Different worlds, each one with its own theme, Koopa Kids and plenty of power-ups.
The most exciting new power-up that New Super Mario Bros U introduced was the squirrel suit. The Squirrel Suit works like a cross between the cape from Super Mario World and the Raccoon Suit from Super Mario Bros 3. I feel that while there are some cool power-ups in the game, Nintendo scaled it back a little bit.
So what exactly makes this worth re-releasing on the Nintendo Switch? Well, the first notable thing is that this includes all of the DLC levels from the Super Luigi U expansion. These levels ditch Mario and make you play as Luigi who has a different feel to him. Super Luigi U features shorter, but much tougher levels and it is a really fun challenge.
The “new” addition to this Deluxe version of the game comes in the form of Toadette who is now a playable character. Toadette has much smoother controls, she can swim without having to hammer the button and instead of 1 Ups, she gets 3 Ups! The coolest feature though is when she picks up the Crown Power Up this turns her into a super Princess Peach and she controls like Mario with the Squirrel Suit.
Nabbit is also playable, but he is actually pretty boring. The idea is that he is for less skilled players, but while he cannot be damaged by enemies, he can still fall down pits! What is lame is that he cannot pick up power-ups.
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is a fine Mario game. It is fun to play, the levels are well designed and like the New Super Mario Bros game on the original Wii, it has multiplayer too. However, I do feel that it plays it very safe. To be fair this could be because I played this game to death on the Wii U. So with that being said, I feel that those who are 100 percent new to this game will love it even more.
That is not to say it is not worth picking up if you have already played through it before. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is still a really fun time and well worth a play through. Thanks to the extra New Luigi U content, you have a ton of levels to play through here.
