Originally released in the early 90s and serving as a sequel to Maniac Mansion. Day of the Tentacle is one of the most beloved point-and-click adventure games of all time. This newly remastered version of the game is bringing it back with a nice lick of HD paint that makes it even more special and fun than it was back in 1993.

The Game Review
The story of the game is fantastic. It is a comedy-sci-fi story that takes place five years after Maniac Mansion. The Purple Tentacle thanks to drinking some sludge that was next to the lab of Dr. Fred has become very smart and even has arms! The Purple Tentacle decides that taking over the world is the right thing to do!
The writing in the game is great and it has Tim Schafer all over it, actually, this was one of the first games where he was a lead on it. The humor is all over the place from potty humor to some pretty dark and twisted stuff that I got a real kick out of. The game has many running gags that go on for a while and I found myself smiling the whole time I played it.
We have three main characters that are going to try and stop the Purple Tentacle, Bernard, Hoagie, and Laverne. While each character is great, Hoagie has always been my favorite and that has not changed with Day of the Tentacle Remastered. The game has these three traveling through time to try and save the day!
What I really liked about this remaster was just how much work went into it. The graphics now have a kind of adult animated TV show style look to them and you can switch to the old pixel-style if you wish. I was very impressed with this and in many ways, it reminded me of animated stuff you would see on MTV back in the 90s.
As well as the graphics getting a lot of work done on them so has the audio. Everything is much clearer, crisper, and easier to actually hear now. They cleaned it up really good and it makes the voice acting even better than it was in the original. I would have a hard time playing the original, based on the sound quality alone!
The gameplay was one area of Day of the Tentacle that did not need any work. If you have played a 90s point and click style game before, you know what you are in store for here. I liked how many of the puzzles that you have to solve are nuts, but as the whole game is nuts, they work. Of course, some puzzles are really out there, but that is the case for all point and click adventure games if you ask me!
Day of the Tentacle Remastered was a game that was very easy to recommend back in 1993. Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a game that is even easier to recommend! It is impossible to play this and not have a fun time. The game is ridiculous, but I mean that in a very complimentary way, truly one of the best in the genre!
