Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is the second game in the survival horror series created by Scott Cawthon. The game was launched on November 11, 2014. The game mechanics are pretty similar to these from the first game. We have the single-player mode and we play as a night guard who’s task is to survive five consecutive nights in a restaurant full of deadly animatronics.
Five Nights at Freddy’s – the New Story
The story begins one year after Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza was closed. The idea behind the game stays the same: a new pizzeria has been opened, similar to its predecessor. And we have new animatronics which join our four friends from Five Nights at Freddy’s. And even though the new additions look friendly and inconspicuous they also mean business. They were armed with modern technology of face recognition which receives data from the criminal records of the police. In theory, this should guarantee safety for the children and their parents. It’s hard to imagine that something could go wrong.
During our first night in the office, we receive a phone call and we find out what happened what happened to our predecessor at this job who was moved to the day shift. He complained about the animatronics who attempted to enter his office and attack him, which according to the engineers was impossible…
We learn how the security cameras work, the system will allow us to monitor the whole restaurant and follow the movement of the animatronics. We are also informed about a music box which we should wind up in order to put to sleep one of the animatronics – The Puppet.
The New Game Mechanics
The major difference between this game and the original is our main defense system. In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 the office does not have doors which can be closed in a dangerous situation. We are armed only with a flashlight, with a battery which power can be depleted quickly. (The whole building’s power is unlimited.) We have received also the empty head of animatronic Freddy. Using it we can trick the other animatronics and thus make the leave our office.
The look of the old animatronics from the previous game has now been slightly changed and as mentioned above we have also new toy friends onboard. These are:
- Toy Freddy is the most animatronic during the first two nights. Similarly to Toy Chica and Toy Bonnie he begins his journey at The Show Stage location (although it is Toy Bonnie who leaves it as the first).
- Foxy now is called Mangle. It is an animatronic built mainly from a twisted endoskeleton and a mask. During the third night, we find out that this is because he was exposed to too many little children. The little brats would disassemble it two pieces each days forcing the staff to put it together every day.
- The Puppet sleeps as long as the music box is playing. It is the most mysterious of the animatronics.
- The last animatronic is Baloon Boy, a humanoid. It is not dangerous but rather troublesome. It may damage the flashlight or the lights in the building which means trouble for the hero.
Will you successfully face the nightmares of the old and new robotic toys? Will you survive the five nights?
