Diablo 3

Diablo 3 is a hack and slash, dungeon crawler by Blizzard Entertainment released in 2012. It belongs to the impressive lineage of Diablo games and despite its release some time ago, its stream of updates keep the game alive even today and Blizzard has been well known to support all their games for a very long time. While the lore is another story of itself, put simply, you are a warrior of light looking to vanquish the evil that seeks to rule the world. Cliche but there’s a lot more to it. I leave it to you to find out.

How to Download Diablo 3

For some platforms, you can download the free Diablo 3 demo. These are Xbox 360 and PS3. There is also a downloadable Starter Edition (for Windows and macOS). They all let you try Diablo 3 for free and play for some time until the encounter with Skeleton King in Act I. Sadly, you cannot download a similar demo for Xbox One or PS4. You should know that there is also a downloadable Diablo 3 expansion pack called Reaper of Souls. To start, click on the Download button at the end of this review.

The Game Review

Onto the game specifics, Diablo’s classes have always been fan favorites being relatively consistent throughout the series but even within a single class, there is much diversity to be explored all with their own strengths and potential to be unlocked. With combinations limitless, on top of these powers are runes to offer another way to play around with your skill set providing different aspects such as making a skill more AOE (area of effect) or more single damage on hit and etc.

Thus, just figuring out all the different things you could be doing leaves the game with plenty of hours to fill. Admittedly, gameplay can be a bit repetitive eventually but it’s really the class system and skill system that offsets the eventual boredom. Coming back to the consistent updates Diablo 3 has, each expansion adds new places to explore and the themed gear to provide new content and are often foreshadowed by a greater batch of updates.

In addition, the grinding in Diablo 3 does not necessarily feel like a grind, a perk for such style of game, as the leveling system referred to as the Paragon system gives the constant ability to level up stats without restraint. As a plus, at a certain point, these points are shared among all the player’s characters. And while some combat areas may become repetitive if you choose only to master a single class, which you shouldn’t, the dungeons will definitely not be as they are all randomly generated to ensure a new adventure every time.

Along with random dungeons, the seasons are the core to Diablo’s longevity as it gives players fresh starts, with access to the built-up glory of the past, and try to get higher up in the ranks and scores than before. The seasons give veterans a chance to freshen up and provide the newcomers an opportunity to get on the initial playing field so they don’t feel extremely left behind.

And while many games could be compared to Diablo 3, such as the next big title that comes to mind, Path of Exile, Diablo really is its own thing regardless of comparison and fans of it will know that it is one of the OG dungeon crawlers that will forever be loved. Get a free go at the game through Blizzard’s website/launcher and be sure to find your path in Diablo 3. Make sure to also check out Path of Exile F2P on Steam as an alternative as well.
