Pathfinder: Kingmaker Review
Being a single player game, Kingmaker only features the campaign mode where players get to choose from a number of heroes or even go as far as creating their own. The game offers a variety of difficulty levels to play the campaign including easy, normal, challenging, hard, and unfair mode.
Naturally, the unfair mode is the most challenging mode where the player’s character will suffer double damage, with chances from receiving critical hits from enemies.
Moving on, Kingmaker also enables a very complex character creation process where players get to choose their character’s personality in a very detailed manner.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker Races
The game contains the following
- Aasimar who look like humans but are of unusual mysterious heritage,
- and Humans.
As the game begins, players start off with their very own towns that they basically rule and take care of throughout the storyline. One of the main in-game features is how the player’s decisions within the game can affect the society and the territory they rule over.
This particularly gives players the choice of ruling the way they desire, meaning that the game isn’t traditionally hero-base. Adding further to the long list of features, the sequence Kingmaker only develops into somewhat of a strategic game as initially, the player starts off with just a single character, however, as the game progresses, the sequence becomes party-based with different companions joining the player along the way.
Kingmaker is essentially a real-time mixed with the active pause combat system. This basically means that the game features both turn-based and real-time combat system, depending upon the situation.
To some, this particular factor may seem a little complex but as they get used to the system, Kingmaker becomes one of the most strategic games where each battle and quest is likely to have an impact on future game events. According to developers, the total gameplay of Kingmaker can go up to 40 hours before the campaign comes to an end.
Overall, Kingmaker was one of those highly anticipated games for all the RPG and strategy game lovers. Since the game was developed through provided feedback by fans themselves, it is precisely designed according to their standards. Although it is still in its early stages, the game is bound to only become more interesting as players exploit the campaign by competing against their opponents.
- An intense and player-decision based storyline makes the game extremely addictive.
- A variety of difficulty modes which makes it playable for individuals with different levels of gaming experience.
- Character customization can be too complex, especially for those players who do not care for their character’s appearance.
