The Gameplay
You play a science fiction simulation of the management of a unique cosmic city located on Red Planet, and your mission is to make sure the colony survives with a minimum number of casualties. The game is also a tribute to the legendary of science fiction writers such as Isaac Asimov or Arthur C. Clarke.
Your main task will be to take care of the entire spectrum of issues that have a direct impact on the success or doom of your colony. Take care of water, oxygen, residents’ satisfaction, build and develop your cosmic city, while making sure people have some leisure time as well. Create a city that will have order and harmony. Such a colony will last for centuries.
Your cosmic story, however, will start on Earth, where you will have to choose a space agency. It will be its job to help you raise funds for a space expedition. Next, you will have to choose a suitable location on Mars, where you will direct a mission of rovers. These robots will be responsible for building a cosmic city. Then you will have to ensure that the rovers build appropriate systems that will make life on Mars possible. Each of these systems can be turned off or be damaged, which means that you have to be responsible for the well-being of the inhabitants and for the development of your Martian metropolis.
In the beginning, a properly designed, built and sustained colony will become home just for a dozen of residents. During your rule, it will gradually expand. Your task will be to take care of each of the residents. Remember also that every Mars colony citizen has different characteristics. Take care of the individual happiness of all community members.
The gameplay has some surprises for you which are called Mysteries. These are simply alternative scenarios that introduce to the game classic science fiction events. Here you can, for example, receive a task to investigate a phenomenon associated with the appearance of an unidentified flying object. This way the game will surprise you all the time.

Surviving Mars has an eye-catching graphics design in retro-futuristic style. The equipment with which you will create your colony looks like a mix of modern technology with the style of the 1960s. Thus you will have huge transparent domes, under which your citizens will find a peaceful life on Mars. Until the first disaster strike, that is.
