Brought to us by the studio A24 (who I love) Bodies Bodies Bodies is a fun comedy slasher movie that I feel should be getting far more attention. It is one of those movies that is just a lot of fun to watch and while it may seem silly in the trailers, there are some pretty deep themes running through it. This is especially evident in regards to the way the movie looks at friendships and how they can change over time.

The Movie Review
The movie takes place in a big mansion. There is a hurricane due and childhood friends Sophie and David decide to host a big party for them and a small group of their closest “friends”. David is a very rich dude and Sophie decided to get sober and as a result, has not had a ton of close contact with these friends of hers which makes things a tad awkward.
Also adding to the awkwardness is that Sophie is bringing along her new girlfriend Bee to meet these people for the first time. Bee has no idea what these people are like and she ends up getting high after eating a cannabis-laced cake. Then she is warned by a member of the group that Sophie is not who is appearing to be.
I had a lot of fun with the dynamic of the various friends. Each character feels like a stereotypical early 20s character you would see in a movie like this, but that is clearly intentional. These “friends” decide that they are going to play a game that they love called, Bodies Bodies Bodies.
The idea of the game is quite simple, it is a murder whodunnit kind of game where you are tasked with finding out who the killer is. The game is intended to be fun, but it ends up with everyone arguing and things getting pretty heated. It also brings many of this friend group’s true nature to the surface too.
Now, this party is already a bit of a nightmare for all those that are there, but things are about to get a whole lot worse. You see someone ends up dead and they realize that there is no one else in the house so one of them must be the killer! It turns into a real-life game of Bodies Bodies Bodies as people try to figure out who the killer is, pin the blame on others and try to survive the night.
While on paper, this is the kind of movie that sounds like you have seen it all a million times before. Bodies Bodies Bodies is actually a very intelligent and fun kind of slasher movie, it manages to make you laugh, cringe and keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. From start to end it is a fun time and well worth watching. However, while I enjoyed it, I do think that once you know the “twist” the movie is not going to be as exciting so I am not sure if it is one, I will watch it again and again.
