This may sound crazy, but Chicken Little is a top-ten Disney movie of all time for me! I remember seeing this in the theatre with my wife (girlfriend) at the time and we loved it. My son when he was born eventually grew to love this movie, he loved it so much that it is a movie that we ended up having on a near-daily basis at one point!

The Movie Review
Chicken Little is one of those movies that Disney likes to pretend does not exist for some reason. There is never anything about it, no merch, nothing in the Disney Parks, it is like they have just tossed it to the side. That is a real shame as it is a funny, heartwarming sci-fi story that I feel is something the whole family can enjoy together.
Like many other Disney movies, the plot of Chicken Little is based on a classic kid’s story. Our main character is a plucky and kind of awkward kid called Chicken Little. His life is kind of a mess as he caused a massive panic when he told the whole town the sky was falling and people went nuts. People then said that it was just an acorn that fell on his head and ever since then the town people made fun of him and were kind of jerks to him actually.
Even his dad is a bit of a jerk to him. I tell you all these years later and I still consider Chicken Littles dad one of the worst Disney dads in a movie! Ok, so he does come around by the end of the movie, but I think Chicken Little would have been well in his rights to say screw this town and just leave them all to it!
Anyway, let’s get back on track. About a year after the whole “sky is falling” incident, it happens again and this time he has proof in a strange tile that fell from the sky. It turns out this is the work of these super cute aliens and they end up leaving their child behind and start an invasion to try and find him!
This brings us to what the movie is really about. Chicken Little along with his best buddies Abby Mallard, Runt, and Fish try to get this little guy back to his folks before they destroy the whole town! Now, this could be just a silly action kind of movie and I know some people pass it off as that, but it is actually so much more.
To start with, I love the whole theme of friendship that this friend group has. It is a great message to kids that sticking with their friends and being there when they need you is the right thing to do. We also get the whole drama aspect of Chicken Little’s dad (who is raising him as a single father) struggling to connect with his son. It is all done very well and gets you more invested in the story.
The whole alien invasion sci-fi story is something that I got a real kick out of too. The animation is great and I feel that over 15 years later, Chicken Little is still a great-looking movie. It also has a stellar voice cast with the likes of Zach Braff, Joan Cusack, Steve Zahn, Garry Marshall, and Patrick Stewart to name a few that spring to mind.
I know when you are looking through Disney Plus, Chicken Little may not stand out from all the other Disney Classics that are on there. However, this is a real hidden gem and something I am very confident you and the kids would have a lot of fun with if you are willing to give it a chance.
