Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is one of the most brutal and shocking serial killer TV shows that I have seen in a long time. If you find the horrific and intense world of serial killers interesting, this is a show that you cannot miss. Netflix has been on a major role with their original series as of late and this is another great one.

The Movie Review
Before I even watched the show, I knew what I was in store for. It features Ryan Murphy and Evan Peters (X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool 2, Dark Phoenix) working together, being a huge American Horror Story fan, this made me very excited for this show. Also, with Ryan Murphy being involved I knew that it was going to be very messy, violent, and disturbing and it certainly is all three of those things.
Evan Peters was the perfect person to play Jeffrey Dahmer. Evan Peters is such a talented actor and he pulls off the weird, twisted Jeffrey Dahmer perfectly. Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is basically the story of the life and horrific crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer. The first episode is one of the best first episodes of any serial killer show that I have seen.
It starts off in 1991, with Jefferey Dahmer actually getting caught. From here, we go back to various points in his life and get a sense of why he did these horrible things as well as seeing some of the more “key” murders that he committed. While most of the praise will no doubt be thrust upon Evan Peters, the whole cast here is so great and makes you care and really feel for these victims.
While seeing the brutality, manipulation, and just downright evil behavior of Jeffrey Dahmer is probably what most people are coming to this show for. I found the stuff when he was a kid pretty interesting too, especially the way it showed his relationship with his dad, not just as a kid, but as an adult too.
I have read a lot of stuff about how violent and graphic Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is and it certainly is. However, I would not say that it is any more graphic than what you would see in American Horror Story. If that show was too much for you, I would probably say that this will be too.
The show is very well-made. It is hard to explain, but it is like there is this kind of dull filter over everything to give it a bit more of an old-school look and it works very well. One of the most shocking things is how it splices in real audio, the second episode features a truly shocking 911 call made to the Police that is kind of hard to believe!
If you have an interest in the world of serial killers, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a show that is going to have you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed watching this show and it did feel like a less weird version of American Horror Story, only, this was actually way more terrifying as the monster and evil here are actually real!
