Released just a year after the first movie was a surprise hit, Friday the 13th Part 2 has a pretty interesting back story. The franchise was going to feature a unique story for each installment, but with fans loving Jason’s surprise appearance at the end of the first movie, it was decided to make a sequel instead.

The Movie Review
I know that many people feel that this movie retreads a lot of the ground the first one did, but I still really enjoy this. Jason is now fully grown and he dispatches our final girl from the last movie. Jason now lives at Camp Crystal Lake and stands guard, willing to brutally murder anyone who steps onto its grounds.
The Setting and Plot of Friday the 13th Part 2
The movie takes place five years after what happened in the first movie. A man called Paul is opening a school for camp counselors just on the shore of Crystal Lake… what could possibly go wrong here right? We once again have a rather easy-on-the-eyes young cast to get to know.
The Legend of Jason Voorhes
During a campfire, Paul tells the counselors the story of Pamela Voorhes and her murderous rampage in the 50s and 70s over the death of her son Jason. He also tells them that Jason is alive and stalks the woods of Camp Crystal Lake! Now, Paul is just messing around and does not believe this, he is just telling what he thinks is a fun ghost story.
Jason Voorhes’ Reign of Terror
Well, wouldn’t you know it, those sex-crazed teens up going to places that they should not and then incur the wrath of Jason Vorhees! I guess that we do have a very similar movie to the first, but it is still a lot of fun. You may not have the mystery of who the killer is as much as it was in the first, but as the whole allure and myth of Jason is so epic, you do get past it.
The Cinematic Impact of Friday the 13th Part 2
We once again have some very grisly kills here and at the time from what I have read, there was a bit of an uproar about some of the stuff that happened in the movie. Once again Camp Crystal Lake and its surrounding area make for a very creepy location and we have that iconic score once again to send shivers down our spines.
Jason’s Evolution in the Franchise
Jason is awesome, but we still do have the “Jason” that we all think of now in this movie. I have to be honest and say that as much as I love Jason, a sack over the head Jason is not for me. I think it is awesome when we see the reason he wears the sack over his head, but there is just something that never clicked about this early version of Jason with me. I do not hate it, but I would not be in a rush to add a figure or a Funko Pop of Jason like this to my collection.
The Legacy of Friday the 13th Part 2
Friday the 13th Part 2 is a solid sequel. It does feel like a very similar movie, only with Jason actually being the killer this time around. With it being so similar, it does lessen the impact the movie has. Still, I always have a good time watching this and it is part of that awesome 4K set that I talked about with the first movie, only this has deleted missing scenes which is fun.
