I am going to start this by saying that Harley Quinn may be my favorite superhero animated show of all time! I was very late to the party on this one, I only started watching it at the end of 2024 so I was able to binge watch the first four seasons before season 5 started in early 2025. I love DC and I love Harley Quinn, but when I heard about this show I thought that it was just a dumb comedy show with no real substance.

The TV Show Review
A Superhero Comedy With Real Depth
Boy was I wrong and completely ignorant. Sure, Harley Quinn has a lot of swearing, gross-out humor, and wacky moments, but this is a show that just has a ton of substance. We start with Harley Quinn dumping The Joker and wanting to branch out on her own and prove that she is an awesome villain and that she does not need The Joker.
Harley puts together a crew that consists of Clayface, Dr. Psycho, King Shark, Sy Borgman, and most importantly of all, Poison Ivy. What makes this show is the relationship and the dynamic between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. I love how Ivy does not see herself as a villain as what she does, she truly believes is the right thing to do for the planet.
The Legion of Doom and Gotham’s Villains
Harley and her crew get off to a rough start with most of the villains and heroes in Gotham thinking that they are a joke, including the guys and gals at The Legion of Doom. The Legion of Doom is awesome and the portrayal of Bane is one of the most hilarious things that the show has going for it.
What truly makes Harley Quinn such a great show is the characters. The characters are all so well developed and the way that this crew becomes friends…. And Dr. Psycho is awesome and you truly do start to see them care for each other. There are tons of important side characters in the show too with people from The Justice League like Batman and of course, The Legion of Doom with Lex Luthor being a big character.
A Story That Keeps You Hooked
I thought that this was going to be one of those shows where the stories were just contained to one episode, but that could not be any further from the truth. There are some standalone episodes, but most of Harley Quinn flows from one episode to the next and it makes you need and want to know what is going to happen next, especially with the stuff with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.
Stellar Voice Acting and Chemistry
The voice acting is amazing and while Tara Strong will always be my Harley Quinn, Kaley Cuoco is awesome and I think that she could have made a pretty badass live action Harley Quinn. Lake Bell plays the role of Poison Ivy and she is great, Lake Bell and Kaley Cuoco have amazing chemistry.
Kite Man – The Breakout Star
One of the major highlights of the show is Kite Man who is voiced by Matt Oberg. Kite Man is a villain who is seen as a joke by the heroes and the other villains of Gotham, but he is such a likable dude. Kite Man’s relationship with Poison Ivy and the way it all unfolds when she falls for Harley Quinn is awesome. He is so great, that he got his own spin-off show, Kite Man: Hell Yeah.
The Best Way to Watch Harley Quinn
To be honest, I am so glad that I came into this late as binge watching Harley Quinn over Christmas break was a major highlight of my vacation. Being able to watch the episodes back to back showed just how well this show flowed. As a matter of fact, as I write this, Harley Quinn Season 5 is on and I am going to wait until it is complete so I can binge watch that. While I watched this via streaming, adding all the seasons on Blu-Ray to my collection is one of my collecting goals for 2025.
