Home is a 2015 animated movie from the masterminds at DreamWorks. DreamWorks makes some of the best family movies around and as this movie featured aliens, I was all in. While the movie may not have been as well-received critically as some of the other DreamWorks movies, it did manage to get a Netflix animated series so it must have done at least decently well.

The Movie Review
This is an alien invasion movie, but it is not something like Monster vs Aliens where it is a big battle and Earth is going to be destroyed. The invading aliens are called The Boov and they see Earth as the perfect place to call home. They see us, humans, as backward and simple so they just decide to relocate us to parts of Earth that they do not care about.
The Boov do not actually see themselves as the bad guy and their leader, Captain Smek Steve Martin) is more of a buffoon than a skilled leader. A teenage girl called Tip (Rhianna) and her pet pig are on the run and trying to find her mother who is played by Jennifer Lopez. She starts to hate The Boov and is trying to figure out how to find where they sent her mother.
Tip is not the only main character in Home. Oh (Jim Parsons) is a Boov who is a little strange and a Boov that the rest of them find pretty annoying! Oh’s attempts to host a house party go horribly wrong when he sends out the invitation to the entire galaxy. The problem with this is that The Boov’s enemy, The Gorg are going to find out that The Boov are now living on Earth.
Oh needs to get to the headquarters of The Boov which is in Paris so he can stop the message before it reaches The Gorg! He comes across Tip and they (along with the pig) make their way to Paris. Oh says he can help Tip find her mother and that is all she needs to hear to join forces.
While they are not exactly best buddies at first, the two soon become friends and it is pretty fun to see. I always think that DreamWorks movies have a lot of heart to them and usually some kind of good moral message. I am not entirely clear what that is with Home if I am being honest.
I thought that the voice cast do a great job here and as you would expect, Rhianna does provide some music for the movie. Like all DreamWorks movies, Home is very easy on the eyes and I think that the Boov are a lot of fun and have a ton of personality.
I would have to say that I do not think this is one of the best efforts from DreamWorks, but there is still a fun time to be had here. The fact that my son has never asked to watch this again and only watched a few episodes of the show tell you how much of an impression it made on him. Still, during the time we watched it, we both got a few laughs, but it is just a kind of forgettable movie, to be honest with you.
