Before I even get to my thoughts on the action blockbuster than is K.G.F: Chapter 2, we have to talk about what an achievement this is for Indian cinema. This is the most expensive Indian (Kannada) movie ever made, it is also the first Indian movie to be made with IMAX in mind. It has been a massive success and as I write this, it is the fourth most successful Indian movie of all time!

The Movie Review
The first movie was released back in 2018 even though parts of K.G.F: Chapter 2 were filed back-to-back with the first installment, Covid-19 problems shut down production and that is the reason for the delay of the movie. Thankfully, they managed to get it done and this surpasses its predecessor in every way. You do not need to have seen the first movie (although I would recommend it) to watch this as it has a narration at the start filling you in.
The movie takes place in the Kolar Gold Fields and the person who rules the Kolar Gold Fields is a man called Rocky. Rocky is the ultimate badass, an assassin who rules the Kolar Gold Fields with an iron fist and will do whatever it takes to make sure that he is the man in charge.
While Rocky is willing to do whatever it takes to keep his power and he does have some very loyal and powerful allies. Rocky is going to be tested like never before, not just from the criminal underworld, but the government too who see him as a major threat and feel that the time is now to take him out!
Rocky is a character that I really liked, there was not really any attempt to sugarcoat the kind of man that he was and I appreciated that. He was a man that had a promise, wanted power, and was willing to do anything to keep it. He was ruthless and he was just such a captivating protagonist.
I found the whole movie to be a great deal of fun and the late 70s setting was something I got a real kick out of. Granted my knowledge of the real events that happened at Kolar Gold Fields is slim to none. However, I can appreciate a damn fine action blockbuster when I see one and that is the best way to describe what this movie is!
One of the best compliments I can give K.G.F: Chapter 2 is that the movie never lets up. This is a movie that lasts for the better part of two and a half hours and it just flies by. The pacing here is great and there is nothing that ever feels like it is here to just pad out the runtime.
I hand on heart could not have been any more impressed with K.G.F: Chapter 2. It truly is a fantastic action movie and a movie that is great no matter what your opinion or experience of Indian cinema is. This is not just a great “Kannada” movie, calling it that is doing it a huge disservice, this is a great movie just because it is a great movie.
