If you are in the mood for a fun and gorgeous-looking romantic comedy, You, Me & Tuscany is well worth your time. The wife and I had been on a horror movie run, and we really needed something light, and I was surprised to see how quickly You, Me & Tuscany landed on streaming. I remember seeing a trailer for it, but I never paid much attention to it. Honestly, it was the fact that the movie was set in Italy that won me over.

The Movie Review
Charming Predictability & Comparisons
Let me get something out of the way really fast, this is a super predictable kind of romantic comedy, and I think that it has a lot of similarities with the Sandra Bullock classic, While You Were Sleeping! That is not meant as a criticism as that is a very fun and charming movie, and I would say that fun and charming is the best way to describe what we have here too.
Premise: Anna’s Italian Inspiration
Our main character is a young woman called Anna. Anna dreams of being a chef, but after the passing of her mother, she kind of just floats around without any real direction. Anna meets a handsome and very charming man called Matteo, and they have a fun night together, but they do not actually hook up. Matteo has a dream life in Italy, and while snooping through his phone, Anna wishes she could experience it.
Arriving in Italy & Halle Bailey’s Performance
Well, on a whim, Anna decides to take a trip to Italy, but there is some kind of festival happening and all of the hotels are booked, so she ends up going to Matteo’s place. I have to say, Halle Bailey, who plays Anna, is just so damn likable, she makes you smile the whole time she is taking in Italy.
Mistaken Identity & Enter Regé-Jean Page
Well, Matteo is out of town, something she knows, so she thinks that she can stay there without anyone noticing, but Anna is caught by Matteo’s mother and grandmother, and they think that she is his fiancée, and she just runs with it. The family fall in love with Anna and completely embrace her. Pretty much every rom-com cliché you could want is here, and that brings us to the main plot point, Matteo’s cousin, Michael, who is played by Regé-Jean Page.
Romantic Chemistry & Feel-Good Ending
Michael and Anna hit it off and sparks well and truly start to fly, but he thinks that she is Matteo’s fiancée, so there is no way he would act on it. Look, I cannot go any further into details than that, but you probably already know exactly how this movie is going to end. There is nothing wrong with a romantic comedy being predictable, and You Me & Tuscany ends by making sure you have a huge smile on your face! At the end of the day, that is all you can ask for in a movie like this.
Gorgeous Setting & Final Verdict
I have to say, I loved the Italian setting. Whenever I see something set in Italy, it always makes me want to go there, but I do not think my wife would be cool with me wanting to check out Italian football stadiums. Anyway, if you are in the mood for a charming romantic comedy, this one is well worth checking out. It did not light up the box office, but I have a feeling that when this properly hits streaming, it may build up a real following.
