I am an unashamed Blumhouse shill, and I loved the first M3GAN movie, and that movie ended with some real sequel potential/bait. While I was excited to see M3GAN 2.0, I just could not fit it, but I managed to go to the last showing at my theatre for it. By the way, why have so many movies in 2025 had such short theatrical runs? I swear, a movie is on for like four weeks and then BAM, it is gone!

M3GAN 2.0 was released on June 27, 2025. It will be available on Peacock as well as on other digital streaming services such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video or Google Play Store.
M3GAN 2.0 Review: Returning Cast and Fresh Twists
M3GAN 2.0 has the same main cast as the first movie; we still have Alison Williams as Gemma and Violet McGraw as Cady, her niece. They are joined by the returning Jen Van Epps as Toni and Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole. Jenna Davis and Amie Donald once again bring M3GAN to life.
The Storyline: AMELIA, AI Dangers, and Unexpected Alliances
This takes place a couple of years after the events of M3GAN. Gemma is still looking after Cady, but she has started a crusade about the dangers of AI and is trying to get the government to address this. She has become something of a celebrity, and she has a friend, who is a pretentious douchebag called Christian, who is helping her with this. Cady has moved on pretty well after the events of the first movie, and she has a love for building things like her aunt, and you can tell that, despite what happened, she misses M3GAN.
Meet AMELIA: The New Threat in M3GAN 2.0
Despite her warnings of the dangers of AI, the government has managed to create something called AMELIA, who is like a spruced-up version of M3GAN, but surprise, surprise, AMELIA goes rogue and now is on a killing spree! The government has no idea how this happened and actually suspects Gemma is involved.
M3GAN’s Return and the New Dynamic with Gemma
We soon realize that M3GAN has been watching over Cady and Gemma all this time, and she reveals herself and says that she wants to help Gemma keep Cady safe. While the first movie was about the relationship between Gemma and Cady, and then Cady and M3GAN. I feel that it is Gemma and M3GAN who have the best relationship here; despite her being AI, M3GAN has had some real growth as a character.
Merch Bait, Action, and the Fight Against AMELIA
With that being said, there is some early distrust and the first body that Gemma puts M3GAN into is hilarious. This is merch bait if I have ever seen it, but I will let them get away with it as it is so awesome. They all have to work together to save Cady and also put a stop to AMELIA and the conspiracy around her.
Humor, Morality, and Action-Packed Sequences
Like the first movie, M3GAN 2.0 is a very fun time, and if you like the first movie, you will probably like this. M3GAN is sassy and fun, despite perhaps still having some anger issues, and there is a lot of cool action here. There is some really cool camera work during some of the fight scenes, too, which I thought made the action even more fun. There is a bit more humor here, but I did think the way it deals with the morality and dangers of AI was really well done and added some substance to the movie.
A Sequel That Lives Up to the Original
Once the movie ended, my wife asked if I liked it better than the first, but this is one of those situations where I like them both equally, perhaps this one just a tad more. Like the first movie, M3GAN 2.0 ends with some major sequel potential, and I would love to see what they could come up with for a third time around. When I looked to see when the 4K of the movie would be released, I saw that there is going to be a M3GAN 2.0 Unrated Edition released later in 2025, so I am pretty excited to see what extra stuff that version of the movie contains.
