When Illumination created The Minions for the first Despicable Me movie there is no way they could have known the pop culture icons they had on their hands! The Minions is the third time these guys graced the silver screen, but the first time they had top billing. To say that this movie was a success is perhaps the understatement of the year.

The Movie Review
How exactly do you make a movie based just around these little yellow fellows? Well, it is something that on the surface sounds like it could have led to just a dumb movie. However, the plot of Minions is actually pretty fun. We get a really awesome back story about what exactly the Minions are.
Turns out that these guys right from the start of time have been all about serving the evilest and dastardly master possible. Unfortunately for the Minions, they tend to cause the death of their masters! Leading them into exile and rather deep depression. This is where Kevin steps up and gets Stuart and Bob on board to go out and find a new master to serve.
The trio of Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are fantastic and I would bet that everyone has their own favorite. I think that having three main Minions was the right way to go as it lets them develop more which in a way gives the whole Minion race more personality. Speaking of personality, the fact that the movie is set in the 60s is really cool.
The Minions quest for a new master leads them to a con that is all about villains and they end up working with a real nasty piece of work. From New York to the UK, The Minions end up on a pretty exciting adventure and while they look to serve the dastardliest earth has to offer, Minions ultimately will try and do the right thing.
Sandra Bullock playing, Scarlet Overkill who is the main villain is so over the top and awesome it makes you wish she would do something like this in live action. Michael Keaton, Jon Hamm, Steve Coogan and a little cameo from Steve Carrell are just some of the highlights of the voice cast.
Minions is a really fun movie and one that works very well. It is the kind of movie that makes you laugh a whole lot. However, Minions also has some heart and there are some really cool action scenes that are sure to get the kids all pumped up. One of the best compliments that I can give Minions is that it is the kind of movie that adults will love just as much as the kids.
While this is a really fun movie that made household names of Kevin, Stuart, Bob and also has a truly epic performance from Sandy B. The impact the movie had cannot be understated. It made over a billion at the box office, the first non-Disney animated movie to do so. It also cemented Illumination as a real contender to Disney and DreamWorks and it also showed that the whole world loves the Minions!
I am not sure I would say that it is the best of the franchise. However, I can tell you that no matter if you are watching this by yourself or with the kids around you. The movie guarantees a great time and you will have a smile on your face the whole time you watch it.
