Nuremberg

How many movies and TV shows have there been about the Nuremberg trials at this point? This is a story that I am not sure needed remaking if I am being honest with you, but the stacked cast had me interested in checking it out. I was familiar with the Nuremberg trials thanks to other movies as well as what I learned in school, so I honestly did not pay much attention to this, apart from seeing the trailer for it and being impressed by the cast.

Where to Watch Nuremberg

Nuremberg was released on November 7, 2025. You can expect the film to become available for streaming on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video or Netflix.

The Movie Review

While the cast is very impressive, our two leads are who steal the show here, and I am sure there will be lots of talk about Rami Malek as Douglas Kelly and Russel Crowe as Hitler’s right-hand man, Hermann Goring, winning awards. Truth be told, it is well deserved. These two give all they have to these performances, and they have great chemistry together. The way that Russel Crowe brings Goring to life is amazing, it is kind of bone chilling in a way that he tries to win you over with his charm, despite being one of the biggest fascists the world has ever seen!

Nuremberg plot summary and historical setup

The movie takes place after the Nazis have lost the Second World War. Hermann Goring and his troops have surrendered, and they have been captured and placed into custody. There is a lot of international discussion about how to try the surviving Nazis for their war crimes and the atrocious acts that they committed, but nothing like this had been done before, so there were a lot of moving parts and things to consider.

Rami Malek and Russel Crowe in Nuremberg

To make sure that Hermann Goring and the other Nazi prisoners were capable of standing trial, Douglas Kelly, a psychologist is brought in to see if they were fit to stand trial. From here, we get Goring and Kelly going head to head as they get to know each other, and the acting is superb, it really is. However, Nuremberg is a two and a half hour movie of guys just talking! Hey, I love a courtroom drama/thriller as much as the next guy, and even without any “action,” they can still be exciting.

Nuremberg pacing and courtroom drama review

Nuremberg, though, despite the impressive performances, felt like it dragged. I also felt that the whole “this evil could happen again, even in America” thing that the movie had going on felt really on the nose. It was clear who this movie was aimed at, and it was not subtle in the slightest. Hey, I am all for getting people to think, and comparing things today to the way that they were when the Nazis rose to power is something I understand. However, this movie really drags it out.

Final verdict on Nuremberg movie

I saw this during the last week, it was on in my theatre, and I was the only person in for the one showing that it had during this day. Nuremberg is not a bad movie, but despite the interesting premise, it lasts too long; they could have cut this down to two hours, and it would have been better for it. If I had been watching this at home and not in the theatre, I am not sure it would have fully kept my attention, or I may have even ended up having to watch it in a couple of sittings.
