Let me start by saying if you liked the two Tiger movies and 2019’s War, you will probably like Pathaan. This is part of the YRF Spy Universe about RAW agents. This is the fourth movie in this shared universe and it is a decent action movie, but not the kind that I will be rushing to watch again. I will say that I think it is very cool how here in the UK, some cinema chains are showing this.
How to Download Pathaan
You can download or stream the film from a digital platform. Click on the Download button at the end of this review and check the current availability. If you like Indian films, check out also Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, K.G.F.: Chapter 2, RRR, or Uri: The Surgical Strike.
The Movie Review
The best part about this movie is the main character Pathaan who is played by the badass and very charismatic, Shah Rukh Khan (SRK if you are cool) he is awesome and you can tell he was having an absolute blast as he was making this movie. I legit could see him crossing over and becoming an older (think Liam Neeson in Taken style) true global action star.
Anyway, let’s get to what this movie is about. There is an evil criminal organization Outfit X and they have a deadly virus called Raktbeej and they plan to spread this deadly virus all across India. The twist here is that the leader of this dastardly act is a guy called Jim who was once a RAW agent himself!
They call in Pathaan to lead the charge in putting a stop to this. What we have here is a plot that feels like something out of an 80s action movie or perhaps even a modern Fast movie! It is not bad or anything like that, but it feels like it is here to just move from one action scene to the next.
The action scenes are what this movie is all about and while the special effects from time to time may not be all that great. I feel that as an action movie, this is a fun watch while you are in the moment and you will certainly get caught up in it all. Just do not expect to be wowed like you are with a 200 million dollar budget Hollywood movie and you will have a much better time with this.
While this is part of the whole RAW agent’s universe thing that they have going on. If you ask me, you can watch Pathaan as a standalone movie without any prior knowledge of this cinematic universe. It stands on its own as a fun action movie with some pretty crazy stuff going on. If you like movies like the Fast series, I am sure you will have a good time with this.
So, is it worth making the effort to go and see Pathaan in a movie theatre? I think that it is important to support stuff like this when it does get a theatrical release. However, if I am being honest, had I been watching this at home, I am not sure it would have kept my attention and I could easily see myself messing with my phone while watching it. Going to see this in my local theatre forced me to pay attention so I am glad I did go and see it there.
