Time Cut is a Netflix original and one of the biggest movies for Netflix’s Halloween 2024 season. It took me a while to get around to watching this sci-fi slasher, but I am glad that I did as it was a fun time. If you love sci-fi, slasher, and horror movies, I am certain that you will get a massive kick out of this.

The Movie Review
When I first saw the trailer for Time Cut, I had this nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I had seen this movie before and then it hit me. Time Cut is very, very similar to the 2023 movie, Totally Killer. They both have the same premise of a kid traveling back in time to save someone from a killer.
The main difference is that Totally Killer sent a teen back to the 80s to save her mom. Time Cut on the other hand does not go as far back as that. Our main character is a high school senior called, Lucy. Lucy lives with her folks and feels pretty invisible as her parents are fixated on her sister, Summer who was killed 20 years prior by a serial killer during a reign of chaos.
A Nostalgic Time-Travel Twist
Lucy is just going about her usual day, but things get weird! Lucy finds a weird machine that transports her back 20 years! Lucy is super smart so she realizes pretty quickly what is going on. She soon meets her sister and a nerdy kid called Quinn. Quinn is super smart and she tells him about her time traveling and he believes her.
Quinn has a massive crush on Summer and he tells Lucy that she should not mess with things in the past as it may have a devastating effect on the future. Well, Lucy cannot just stand by and do nothing and she does change some things in the past and decides to say what the hell and try to save her sister.
A Likable Trio and a Killer Mystery
The movie has a great pace and I never felt bored at all while watching it. It is awesome seeing Lucy and Summer bond and also become good friends with Quinn, they make a very likable trio. I will be honest, I pretty much clicked who the killer was early on, but it was still a fun time seeing this trio try to figure out how to save the day. Madison Bailey, Antonia Gentry, and Griffin Cluck are all super likable as our main trio, trying to put a stop to this killer and
When we have time travel in a movie like this, it is usually back to the 80s or the 90s that people go back to, 2003 to me does not feel like it was that long ago, but 20 years is a long time. It was fun seeing how Lucy fitted in with 2003 fashion, trends, and technology, but there were also things that were weird to her such as the dial-up internet and there being no real social media.
Final Thoughts: Fun but Not Groundbreaking
The thing with Time Cut is that this is not an amazing movie, but while I was watching it, I had a very fun time. The movie does what it does very well, but it is not the kind of movie you will remember for years to come. I do think that if I had to pick a winner between this and Totally Killer, I would go for Totally Killer, but this is still a decent, all be it predictable slasher that is well worth watching.
