The Song Review
From a commercial point of view, the song became an absolute hit, mainly because it publicized the secret relationship between the two artists. Secreto managed to reach number 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 list just two weeks after its initial release.
The Lyrics
Lyrically, Secreto is a romantic song which defines the relationship between Anuel and Karol. It begins with Anuel calling out Karol and referring to her as Bebecita.
The chorus hits early as the two then come together and sing about the level of intimacy between them. Conversating with each other, the two explain how their relationship was initially a secret to the world and how, in reality, the two were hanging out and going on dates before finally spending nights together as a couple.
This is followed up by verses where both Anuel and Karol compliment each other’s presence around them by specifically detailing how they fulfill themselves by engaging in sexual intercourse with each other.
The chorus kicks in for a second time with slightly different lyrics. This time around, the two support one another and decide that it is now time to announce their love to the world. The latter part of the song follows a similar pattern with the two admiring each other before the song comes to a close.
The Music Video
In synchronization to the lyrics, the music video begins with an aerial view of a beach followed up by the couple making their on-screen appearance. The video displays how the couple enjoys itself and finds joy in the little things in life such as brushing their teeth together in the bathroom. In every aspect of their lives, the two do not hold back in playing with each other in a lovable manner. As the sequence progresses, the music video explicitly begins to define how the two manage to enjoy themselves regardless of location, weather, and the audience around them.
Apart from the romance, the video shows their everyday activities including traveling to different locations together and having fun by going on bike rides, playing in the snow, and celebrating numerous occasions together. Their closeness also extends to their professional lives as the sequence displays how the two go up on stage and perform together in front of their fans.
In the second half of the video, the couple, along with a few other friends, begin to dance together around what seems to be a campfire. It ends with the couple walking away as fireworks go out before the video fades out.
