See You Again is a hip-hop rap song by rapper Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth. The song is written by Puth himself, along with Andrew Cedar, Justin Franks, and Cameron Thomaz. See You Again was officially released on 10th March 2015 and is a tribute to the late Hollywood actor Paul Walker, who died in a tragic car crash on November 30th, 2013. It was commissioned for the film Furious 7 which featured Walker as one of the main characters.

The Song Review
Being an emotional tribute, See You Again has become a global hit that managed to top the charts of many countries, some of which include Australia, Austria, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, and Switzerland.
Additionally, the song also equaled the record of Lose Yourself (by Eminem) by spending 12 consecutive weeks at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It received three Grammy nominations and broke several streaming records.
See You Again: the Lyrics
In its entirety, the song is majorly based on rap with a pop-like chorus in between.
The song begins with Puth describing the lengths of friendship by singing how theirs is long and pure. Having said that, a promise is made through the lyrics that despite Walker’s death, they will still meet again in the afterlife.
Wiz Khalifa raps and continues the theme by reminiscing about all the good memories that Walker had spent with his Furious family. He quotes examples of Walker’s character as to how all the cast members were family in and out of the film’s boundaries.
The latter half continues the same pattern as Khalifa stresses the importance of family. Khalifa’s final verse is undoubtedly the deepest as it makes a reference directly to Furious 7, terming it as Walker’s last ride. The verse is as follows “You were standing there by my side, and now you gon’ be with me for the last ride”.
The Video
The official music video for the song was published on 6th April 2015 and for about a month, it reigned as the most viewed video on YouTube. At the time of writing it is number third behind Despacito and Shape of You.
Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the video begins with a serene view as Khalifa can be seen walking at the side of the road. Puth makes his appearance as he begins to sing whilst playing the piano at the edge of an elevated road.
Khalifa then begins to rap as the music video begins to take cut outs from the Fast and Furious franchise, specifically focusing on Walker and his character.
In synchronization to the lyrics, the music video shows the Fast and Furious family sitting together and enjoying their time, indicating how they were part of Walker’s family. In the final part of the video, a cut out from Fast 7 is displayed where Walker’s character can be seen saying goodbye to his closest friend – Vin Diesel’s character.
The Song Reception
Overall, See You Again is considered to be one of the most emotional tributes seen in the Hollywood industry. The song brought tears to everyone’s eyes and also played a huge part in the promotion of the then-upcoming film Fast 7.
