The Game Review
Throughout the early and mid-2000s, Diablo II dominated the world of PC gaming due to its interactive gameplay and intense storyline. The main aim of the game is to train the player’s character and defeat their enemies in order to complete the quests. The game is available to play on the platforms of Microsoft Windows, Classic Mac OS, and macOS.
Diablo II features a storyline that mainly takes off from where it initially left off. At the main menu, the game offers a number of game modes that are either available to play in single-player as well as the multiplayer version. The campaign storyline of the game is divided into four chapters known as Acts.
Each Act features the player having to complete numerous quests which involve them defeating enemies. The game map is also quite large in size as it contains surroundings ranging from ancient Egypt’s desert and tombs to the plainlands full of trees and forests. The famous expansion pack for the game called Diablo II The Lord of Destruction contains an additional fifth Act as well with more bonuses and gameplay features involved. There is also Diablo Battle Chest which contains the original Diablo, Diablo II and the LoD expansion pack mentioned above.
Moving on to the in-game attributes involved, Diablo II displays the player’s character that carries weapons, armor, and other useful equipment. The game’s equipment is divided into several quality levels including normal, magical, set, rare, and unique. Naturally, each of the progressing qualities is much more effective and difficult to obtain compared to the previous ones.
These items and equipment are stored in the player’s backpack and hence, only a limited number of items can be carried by the player at one particular time. A crafting mechanism is also introduced in this game which enables players to combine two weaker items into one strong single item. This option extends and applies to both the weapons and other equipment.
Diablo II allows its players to choose from any one of seven different characters, each of which holds unique strengths, weaknesses and set of skills. These characters include The Amazon, Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorceress, Paladin, Druid, and Assassin.
Each of these characters has a unique background story related to their strengths, for example, The Necromancer is a versatile spell caster and wizard whereas, The Druid’s speciality lies in the fact that it has the ability to transform and shapeshift into a bear or werewolf form.
