Car Mechanic Simulator 18 is a mobile game, currently available on iOS and Android devices and was originally released on the 31st January 2018 and developed by PlayWay. As can be assumed from the title, the game is a mix of a puzzle game and a simulator, where the player is expected to fix up old cars, replace their parts, and then sell them for a profit once they’re all completed.

The Game Review
Just like many other simulator games – many of which PlayWay is known for – Car Mechanic Simulator 18 has no real plot, with the exception of “do this because you need the money.” That is essentially all the game has in the form of a story, but with the simulator genre, it isn’t too much of a surprise at this stage and shouldn’t be expected as such.
The core gameplay loop for Car Mechanic Simulator 18 is fairly self-explanatory, as it requires the player to take a car that clearly isn’t working as intended and do whatever they can to fix it.
For a successful repair, the player is required to purchase new parts for the car, install them, remove rust and apply paint, and even buy and sell vehicles, depending on if they can get a decent purchase with them. A unique feature of the game is that it uses real terms for the car parts, so for anyone that’s ever wondered just how a car works and what part is what, Car Mechanic Simulator 18 has them covered.
With each new car that gets purchased, it has its own problems to solve and to fix them it requires a number of different repairs from the player. Typically, though, it involves the removal and then the installation of new, working part and that generally boils down to hold down this spot with the player’s finger until the part is installed. The general gameplay loop pretty much boils down to this and doesn’t require too much thinking on the player’s part, as after a while they are expected to memorize what goes where and even what it does at times.
In terms of comparisons, the game is easily comparable to previous Car Mechanic Simulator’s and the newer game PC Building Simulator, the title that tends to use a lot of the same controls; except on a computer instead. Just like PC Building Simulator, in CMS 18 the player doesn’t need to have an intrinsic understanding of the machine their working on, as it’s designed to allow for the arcade-like fun to take over from the very beginning until they get their bearings.
Fans of building their own machines or vehicles are really going to appreciate this one, as it’s a lot of getting to learn and understand just what makes a car tick, without making it impossibly hard. Unfortunately, if they’re looking to use this to fix their own car it probably isn’t going to have the same effects, but the general gameplay loop is more than fun enough to keep even the most casual car mechanic coming back over and over again to fix a new car each time around.
