The Walking Dead: Our World is a new augmented-reality game, available on mobile devices for both iOS and Android. The game was released on the 12th July 2018 and is in development with Next Games, the same team behind The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land, another mobile game. In Our World, players are expected to make like Pokémon GO and head on out into the real world to face the encroaching zombie menace!

The Game Review
With many other AR games, there appears to be a distinct lack of story in the game, as it simply tells the player that the world has turned upside down and now walkers walk the streets. Filled to the brim with many other characters from the popular TV series, Our World has the player teaming up with them for survival as they walk around the city landscape.
For anyone that’s played Pokémon GO or any other games of a similar nature, they’ll know what to expect from this one. Players are expected to go out into the real world and simply walk around, without a care in the world. On the player’s screen, however, will be a number of different icons, symbolizing resources or infestations. Resources are used to upgrade the player’s account and make their zombie-slaying abilities a little more impressive with each new fight that breaks out. With every action, it can bring about a new fight with the zombie hordes that come encroaching on the player, and from there they then must fight.
Other than simply walking around the world around the player, combat is a major part of the game as a whole and typically can’t be avoided. When the player heads off into combat, zombies will slowly start to encroach on their position and as the player, they’re going to need to avoid their attacks by moving around the current environment to dodge attacks. To attack the zombies, they’re going to need to pick up any weapons that are lying around the environment (on the app), tap them, and then tap on the zombie to attack them. Most of the combat revolves around tapping and dodging, without too many other complications thrown into the mix.
It should be made clear that ever since the release of Pokémon GO and its overwhelming initial success, so many games have banked on that idea, with The Walking Dead: Our World being one of them. Many of the same systems have been taken from Pokémon GO and repurposed for Our World, so the comparisons between the two games are pretty much identical – just with zombies instead of Pokémon this time around.
For anyone that enjoyed Pokémon GO or other AR titles, but wanted something a little more gritty and dark, then this is the perfect game for that. While the game isn’t quite as appropriate for younger audiences as Pokémon GO, but for fans of augmented-reality and games similar in any way to Pokémon GO, then they are going to find a lot to enjoy and appreciate from The Walking Dead: Our World, without having to worry about learning too much to get to grips with it all.
