Let me start by asking you this question: Are you a fan of Jason Statham movies? If you said yes, you are a Jason Statham fan, A Working Man is going to be a great deal of fun for you. However, if you are not into his movies, this is not for you, as this is about as typical Jason Statham as you can get. I have to be honest, I get a huge kick out of a new Jason Statham movie, as I pretty much know exactly what I am going to be getting.

The Classic Statham Formula: The Movie Review
He is one of those actors that when I go to see a new movie of his, I have certain expectations, and 9/10 he meets them. Last year we had him doing his Jason Statham thing in The Beekeeper, and this year it is A Working Man. This pretty much ticks all of the boxes of what you would want and expect from a Jason Statham movie. He is like a throwback to an 80s action star, like a Van Damme or a Schwarzenegger, and that is something I think is very cool.
Behind the Scenes: Powerhouse Creative Team
Before we get into the ass kicking we see on the screen, behind the camera we have an awesome team! The script was done by Sly Stallone and David Ayer, with Ayer handling the directing duties. If those two names, along with Jason Statham being the star, do not prepare you for what you are in for,…. You have no right to complain that this movie was not for you! This is a movie that proudly wears what it is on its sleeve.
Levon Cade: Statham’s Latest Badass Role
Statham plays the role of a man called Levon Cade. Levon is the head of a construction team, and he is working for the Garcia family with whom he has a very close relationship. Of course, Levon is not some “normal” kind of construction worker. Before this he was part of the British Royal Marine Commandos and a total badass, one of the best soldiers around.
The Plot: Action-Packed Rescue Mission
Well, the Garcia family have some trouble on their hands. Jenny, the teenager of the Garcia family is kidnapped by human traffickers from Russia and Levon is going to start dropping bodies and breaking bones to get her back. You may be thinking, isn’t this very similar to the plot of Taken and I would have to say that yes it is, but this is a bit less sophisticated than Taken, this is much more of a straight up action movie.
Straightforward Plot, Satisfying Action
You can pretty much sum the plot of A Working Man up in one sentence, and what you are probably imagining the movie is, is exactly what it is. This is the kind of movie where the trailer tells you exactly what you are in for, that is why I am surprised that it is getting the negative reviews it is. For sure, this is not one of the greatest action movies of all time, but it 100 percent delivers on what the trailer promises.
Solid Supporting Cast Elevates the Film
While this is a “Jason Statham” movie, A Working Man does have a great support cast with the likes of David Harbour, Michael Peña, and Jason Flemyng, and everyone in the movie does a great job and commits to the part. I was really impressed by young Arianna Rivas, too. In all, this is just a fun movie, and if you are into action movies, you will have a good time with it. I would certainly not say that this is one of the best action movies, but I still had a good time with it.
