I am at a point where I will go and see anything that has Blumhouse attached to it. Blumhouse is one of my favorite movie studios and M3gan is another fantastic movie from them. This was the first must-see movie at the theatre for me in 2023 and it was a movie I had a lot of fun with.

The Movie Review
If you have seen the trailer for M3gan, you pretty much know what to expect here. We have a young girl called Cady who is taking a trip with her parents when they get into an accident. Cady’s parents are killed so she is sent to live with her aunt Gemma. Gemma is a workaholic and she works at a toy company.
Cady and Gemma do not have much in common at all at first, but this changes when M3gan is introduced. M3gan is the latest toy that Gemma is working on and it is going to revolutionize the toy industry. Her boss at first is not keen, but once he sees the connection M3gan and Cady have, he sees dollar signs and moves forward with the project.
Now, if you have seen any movie with advanced robotic AI, you can see where M3gan is going a mile away. I will admit, this is a very predictable movie, there are not really any surprises here, but it is still one heck of a fun time. I think the comparisons people are making to stuff like Child’s Play are very fair.
I would not say that the movie is scary in any way at all, but there is no denying that there is something creepy as hell about that stare M3gan has! As you have seen from the trailer, before long, the attachment Cady and M3gan have goes bad and she ends up going homicide and having to be stopped.
As I said, this is a movie where you pretty much know right from the start how it is going to go. I know that some people may say that is bad, but I feel the movie moves at a quick pace and as a result, you go with the flow and have a good time. The way M3gan moves is just kind of unsettling, but also kind of fun at the same time.
One thing that I do not think this movie is getting enough credit for is the performance of Violet McGraw. You may recognize her from the awesome Haunting of Hill House and she is great as Cady. The way she builds up this strong and pretty much toxic relationship with M3gan is really what the movie is all about.
By the way, there is some confusion about why the movie is called M3gan. M3gan stands for Model 3 Generative Android which is something that I got a kick out of. I would say that it falls more into the sci-fi category than horror as there were no moments that made me jump, it is more creepy than scary, and that all stems from the way M3gan looks.
If you want a fun time, go and see M3gan. It is not a movie that is going to blow your mind or anything like that, but it is still a good time in the theatre. I am pretty excited to see if this does well as I think that there is some major potential for a sequel here with the way things end.
