I am going to go out on a limb here and say that Nope is my favorite Jordan Peele movie. I loved Get Out and Us, but Nope felt like it was a movie that Jordan Peele made just for me! Part sci-fi part horror and part comedy, this is just a thrill ride from start to end that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The Movie Review
To be honest with you, Nope is one of those movies where the less you know about it, the more fun you are going to have with it. That is why I am not going to spoil anything for you here. We have a fantastic cast with Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer playing siblings Oj and Em.
Oj and Em are “Hollywood” royalty and they are horse riders/jockeys for the movie business. The way that the movie takes a look at the history of Hollywood and what many of us associate with it is very clever and more evidence of what an incredible filmmaker Jordan Peele is.
They live and work on a secluded gulch and things start falling from the sky, one of which kills their father. Oj and Em deal with their father’s death in different ways, Oj, tries to just keep working, but Em moves on and ends up at a cowboy themed carnival ran by former child star, Jupe, played by Stephen Yeun who is just freaking awesome in this role.
As more and more weird stuff starts to happen in the sky, they decide to try and capture definitive proof that aliens are real as this could make them all very, very rich. What I love about this is that on paper this seems like a very basic premise for a movie, but Nope has some incredible depth to it.
The character interactions and the way that the movie deals with the past of these characters as well as their hopes for “the American dream” in their futures is just fantastic. Nope is one of those movies that will make you laugh out loud one moment and then have you gripping the edge of your seat the next, you truly never know what is going to happen and I am so glad that I was able to see this in the theatre, spoiler free!
Nope is also a very beautifully shot movie, I love the way this ranch setting looks and the carnival place that Jupe runs is one of the best locations that I have seen in a movie this year. I love how all three of Jordan Peele’s major movies have their own distinct look to them and this one is so far my favorite!
As you can tell from what you have read, I had an absolute blast with Nope. The best compliment that I can give it is that my wife loved it and I had to drag her to see it as she is not into sci-fi at all. From the start until the credits roll, you are kept entertained and wondering what will happen next and what is really going on. This seems like a quiet summer for movies at the theatre, so make sure you take the time to see this!
