Spy x Family Code: White

I had to drive a bit further than my local cinema to see Spy x Family Code: White as it was only showing in one theatre. This is a movie based on an anime and I can tell you right now, you do not need to have seen the anime to appreciate this. I can say that because I had never seen this anime, apart from the trailer and from what my son told me, I knew nothing about this series.

How to Download Spy x Family Code: White

The Movie Review

The thing is, I am sure I would have appreciated it more if I had been knowledgeable about the character’s show lore and so on. However, I give the people behind this movie a ton of credit as they got me up to speed with who the characters were in the opening minutes, and never once did I feel lost while watching the movie.

The Unique Family Dynamic

Spy x Family Code: White is about this fake family. The “dad” is a master spy known as Twilight and he has to put together a fake family in order to be able to blend in and carry out his missions. His regular person name is Loid Forger and he does a great job of looking and acting like a regular dad.

The Characters: A Spy, An Assassin, and a Psychic

His family is made up of his “wife” who is called Yor and she is not just a regular woman, she is a master assassin. They have a daughter called Anya. I freaking loved Anya, she was by far my favorite character in the movie. She has these psychic powers, but she ends up getting into all kinds of trouble. She was just so adorable, she was impossible not to love.

The Plot: A Cooking Contest and a Mission

Anya wants to enter a cooking contest, Loid comes up with the idea of making the favorite dish of one of the judges so they go to where the dish was created. Not only will this help Anya with the contents, but it will also help Loid and the family with their spy mission.

The Conflict: Kidnapping and World Stakes

Well, things do not exactly go smoothly. Anya ends up eating this piece of chocolate that contains a super secret microfilm that a bunch of people want to get their hands on. She ends up kidnapped and Loid and Yor have to do their thing to try and save her. Oh, this also could lead to the devastation of the world as well.

Conclusion: A Fun and Engaging Movie

The plot is kooky and by the time the movie comes to a close, it is all wrapped up nicely. I assume that this was done to stop the stuff in the movie from impacting the show. This way the movie can stay as its own contained story. The movie was a lot of fun and it made me want to check out the anime. It is an anime that my son speaks very highly of so I will check it out at some point.

Spy x Family Code: White is one of those movies that I am so glad I made the effort to go and see. I was not sure what it would be like, I thought I would be lost and have no idea what was going on. That was not the case at all, yes this is a companion piece to a show, but it more than stands on its own for those who are not familiar with this world or its characters. If it is showing at a theatre near you, I highly recommend you go and see it.
