As a huge fan of the original, I was so pumped when I heard that Netflix was making a sequel to The Babysitter! Released in 2020, The Babysitter: Killer Queen is a fun sequel that is full of gore and craziness like the original. I think that this is a solid sequel even if it is not as good as the original.

The Movie Review
This time around, Cole is in high school and pretty much no one believes him about what went down that night a couple of years ago. Even his best friend, Melanie, never fully comes out and says that she saw what he saw that night. Cole is having trouble at home too as his mom and dad are worried and have no idea how to deal with him.
Cole’s parents plan on sending him away to get “better” He finds out and Melanie persuades him to ditch school and go to the lake with her, her boyfriend Jimmy, and Jimmy’s friend, Diego. Cole clearly feels out of place with these people, but he loves Melanie and she seems like she wants what is best for him.
However, before Cole ditches school a new student called Phoebe shows up and is kind of crazy. Phoebe is played by the actress of the moment Jenna Ortega (Check her out also in Iron Man 3, Insidious: Chapter 2, Scream, X, Scream VI, and Wednesday) and she is awesome as always here. Now, I do not want to go into spoilers as The Babysitter: Killer Queen actually has a really cool twist.
Basically, the cult members that wanted Cole’s blood who he killed in some creative ways in the first movie, are back from the dead and they want Cole dead! It is a fun premise and as I said, there is a really good twist here. I think the relationship that builds between Cole and Phoebe is what I liked best here as far as the characters go.
It was fun to see Max, Allison, Sonya, and John back again. The gore once again is completely over the top and I mean that in the most complimentary way. This is a good movie, but there is just something about it that is not quite as good as the original. I could not put my finger on it for sure, but there is just something missing here that was in the first movie.
It is weird because I liked the characters, and the idea of the story, and really liked the craziness and over-the-top nature of things. Yet, once the credits rolled, I felt like I was not as entertained as I was the first time. I do think that we get a great arc for Bee and find out more about here which was interesting.
I would love two more movies in this universe. I would really like to see a third Babysitter movie that follows on from this. Yet, I would also be interested in a movie that shows us Bee and her deal with the devil as it was touched on here, but I think they could perhaps get a full movie out of it.
The Babysitter: Killer Queen is a solid movie and if you liked the first you will like this. It is a fun time and even if it is not as good as the first movie, it is still well worth your time watching. I hope that this did well for Netflix as this is something that I would love to see more from and McG has hinted that it could be coming!
