Euro Truck Simulator 2 – Going East! is a DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, a game that revolves around taking deliveries all around Europe for a price, requiring the player to spend hours driving in this consistent driving game. Just like the rest of the game, Going East! was released 19th September 2013 and was developed by the developer for Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software, the same team behind American Truck Simulator, Euro Truck Simulator, and Bus Driver, so the team knows what they’re doing at this point.

The DLC Review
When it comes to motivation for the original point of Euro Truck Simulator 2 was to gain enough money to run your own truck-hauling company, the DLC doesn’t add anything to this. It effectively just adds more for the player to do in new areas, with no real additions to the general motivation.
The gameplay stays completely the same with the addition of the DLC, where it takes you throughout a greatly condensed version of Europe, where you can quite literally drive wherever you want, such as England, Wales, Scotland, and Germany.
With the new DLC, though, it does add 13 new cities for you to drive along; with new, challenging roads to undertake that won’t be quite as smooth and easy as the main game. Throughout all of these locations, you’re going to have to be stopping for fuel, paying attention to the traffic, street signs and traffic lights, and pretty much everything else around you. Failing to drive like you would in real life will provide you with a penalty, making your end goal a lot more difficult.
The controls are relatively simple, as it can be played in a number of ways. Either you can play like you would any typical racing game, with a keyboard and mouse or a controller or you can always try it with a set of pedals and a steering wheel.
Depending on how hardcore you wish for the experience and immersion to be, you can have as many driving peripherals applied to the controls as you can muster, making Euro Truck Simulator 2 a quintessential driving game.
Earning money is a big deal in the game, as it’s what brings you closer to owning your own hauling company, where you can hire employees, earn more money, and purchase your own trucks as well. To earn money, you must take jobs from one depot and take them to the next one that’s marked on the map.
Once you reach the destination from a long stint of driving, you’ll be expected to do one of two things: get close enough to the marker and hit done or try and line up the load accurately. There’s no penalty for just hitting a button, but there is a bonus for lining it up properly, but it’s going to take some practice with how challenging it can be.
Easily some of the biggest comparisons for these games are the developers previous driving titles, such as Bus Driver, as it borrows a lot of the same mechanics of driving like you would in real life. Despite this rather mundane task, the addictive and relaxing nature of driving through each job, enjoying the scenery as you drive past is quite the experience.
Euro Truck Simulator 2: Going East! is designed for people that simply wanted more Euro Truck Simulator 2, just with some new locations to go and drive around in. Other than that, the DLC is simply more of the same and for fans of the game already, that’s not exactly much of a complaint.
