I know that the title Motor Town: Behind The Wheel makes this sound like a kid’s show that would be on Nick JR or something like that! However, this is a fun driving sim that lets you just get out on the road and drive. On paper, I am sure many people will think “what is the point in this?” yet, it is a very addictive and relaxing kind of game that I spent way more time with than I thought I would.

The Game Review
We do have to start by addressing that Motor Town: Behind The Wheel is in early access, but there is a demo you can try for free. The game is set in a pretty large city, a city that they say is 8km x 8km so it is massive! I have been playing the game with an Xbox controller and it works great.
This has a more realistic kind of driving going on, but there are some driving assists that you can turn on if you want them. You are free to just drive the way that you want in Motor Town: Behind The Wheel. You can be a taxi driver and go around picking people and taking them where they need to go.
You can also drive a bus or just go around picking up hitchhikers. That is cool, but there is more to this game than just working in the public transport sector. You can take part in races, drive an ambulance, work for the police or just go and explore the city. It is truly remarkable the number of things you can do, even in this early access state.
You also have to replace car parts, upgrade things and stop and get fuel when you need to as well. I know I have made it seem like the game is just you doing what you want, but there is a lot of player progression here. You start at level 0 for all the “disciplines” such as police, delivery driver, taxi driver, and so on.
Each job, mission, or whatever you want to call it will help you move up. You will also earn more money and between your extra cash and leveling up, you can get new cars, parts, and that kind of thing. You always feel like there is something to do in the game and you want to keep playing to get to that next level or get that next upgrade.
The presentation of Motor Town: Behind The Wheel is not bad at all. It has a kind of basic look to it, but I like the use of color and think overall the game is easy on the eyes. This is handy as this can be a very addictive game where you just want to keep on playing. Not just to progress, but the driving is so satisfying and feels great, it is very easy to get into a zen-like state with this game.
I can see why so many people love this game. Motor Town: Behind The Wheel already has a solid reputation online and I do not think I have heard anyone say anything majorly negative about it. If you like driving games, be sure to give the demo of this a try and you will be hooked.
