Princess Connect! Re: Dive is a mobile game and a sequel to Princess Connect which was released a few years ago. At its core, Princess Connect! Re: Dive is best described as a 2D battle RPG style of game. With a very anime kind of style and a cast full of cute female characters, Princess Connect! Re: Dive is becoming a bit of a phenomenon!

The Game Review
The first thing that is worth noting about Princess Connect! Re: Dive is the art style. The main part of the game that you will be seeing is made up of these fantastic 2D sprites. The actual characters look great, but it is the stages that really blew me away. This is some of the best 2D graphics I have seen in a mobile game!
I will not lie and say that I played much of the first game and I know the story, but there is a story here and there are some great animated scenes. However, following what is going on is beyond me! Still the story is popular enough that there is a couple of mangas and even an anime series in the works.
The gameplay is very fast paced, hectic and a lot of fun. Your team can have up to five characters in it at a time. The characters will fight on their own, but you can interact by touching their portrait on the screen. With this, you can use items and unleash their special attacks (Union Burst) or buffs that can do things like heal allies. You can use skills (which you can unlock more of) and this thing called “talent” which adds to the gameplay.
There is far more going on with the gameplay that the cutesy images suggest. You have items that you can use, buffs that you can apply and ailments that you have to deal with. The enemies are never shy about casting some kind of spell on you that can cause you trouble. So, while you do not directly control the characters, you can never really take your eye of what is going on.
The game is split up into chapters and each chapter will have around 15 stages for you to get through. As well as standard battles, each chapter also contains a pretty epic boss battle as well. I played the game on normal mode, but there is also a hard mode if you fancy more of a challenge.
That alone sounds like a lot to keep you busy. Princess Connect! Re: Dive actually has other game modes. Search Stages, Combat, Clan Battle and a PVP mode are also trying to get your attention. There really is a lot to do in this game and that is why so many people (especially in Japan) are hooked by this. On the flip side, it may be a bit intimidating for some people.
One part of the game that I can see being really huge is the Guild House. The Guild House is the place where your characters live and you can edit it and interact with it. You can get new furniture and watch your characters as they chill out. This is a fun side thing that the game offers, but certain things in the Guild House can also help you in battle.
The amount of content that Princess Connect! Re: Dive has is just incredible. The base game alone is going to keep you very busy. However, when you add in all the additional content, you have one of the most feature-packed mobile games of the year. If you like anime style RPG games then you have to give this one a look.
- The game looks fantastic
- An all-female cast
- The battle system is a lot of fun
- Plenty of side modes to enjoy
- The Guild House is very cute
- Will microtransactions get out of control?
- I have no idea what is going on with the story
