I am a massive fan of the Final Destination series. I remember when the first movie came out, and they would show clips of how the audience was reacting, and it was the craziest promotion I had seen for a movie. It made me so desperate to see that movie, and it did not disappoint. I loved it. I remember going to see it multiple times.

The Movie Review
A Franchise Favorite: Ranking the Best of Final Destination
The series for me peaks with Final Destination 3, which is by far my favorite of the franchise, but to be honest, I like all of the entries. I guess I would say that The Final Destination (the fourth one) is my least favorite, but it is not like I dislike it. The reviews that I was seeing for Final Destination: Bloodlines were fantastic, many calling it the best entry in the series yet, and that made me even more excited to go and see it.
Final Destination: Bloodlines Expands the Lore
While some people may think that this series is just all about creative and gruesome kills, it has a pretty awesome lore, and the way things connect in different movies is very clever. This movie was going all in on the lore and had some very interesting ideas, and that by far was what I loved about the movie.
A Thrilling Opening Sequence: The 1960s Disaster
An epic opening is something this series is known for, and Final Destination: Bloodlines does not disappoint. The movie starts in the late 60s, and we meet Iris and her boyfriend, Paul, who are going to a fancy new restaurant, Sky View. Sky View is a massive tower like building that was rushed to be built, and in typical Final Destination fashion, a series of events happen that result in tons of deaths! Only Iris had a premonition of this, and she was able to save many people who were marked for death!
Dreams, Death, and Family Secrets
Now, this is where we get our big twist of the movie, and that is that this was a dream by a college student called Stephanie. Stephanie is the granddaughter of Iris, and she has been having this dream for several weeks. Looking for answers, she heads home to find out why she has been seeing her estranged grandmother’s premonition in her dreams. Her father and her uncle are very hesitant to talk about Iris, as it turns out that her uncle and her mother had a troubled childhood, as Iris was obsessed with keeping them safe from death.
Death’s Grand Plan in Final Destination: Bloodlines
Death, having a plan, is a massive part of the Final Destination here, and in Final Destination: Bloodlines, death is trying to tie up all of the loose ends that Iris’ surviving back in the 60s caused. All those people who survived had families that were not supposed to exist, and death has been hard at work for decades, taking care of it! Stephanie figures out deaths plan and is now in a race to save her family.
Creative and Gruesome Kills That Fans Expect
We have to talk about the kills, and there are some very gruesome ones. The BBQ scene that is in the trailer is super tense, as you never know for sure which member of the family is about to get it! However, my favorite death in the movie has to be the poor girl who has an unfortunate encounter with a garbage truck! This whole scene is great as it has an epic death scene, but it also shows that Stephanie is starting to figure out deaths plan.
Tony Todd’s Final Performance
One thing that was both awesome and sad was Tony Todd. Tony Todd has been part of the franchise since the start, many people even think that he actually is death. However, he was very sick at the time of filming this, and you can really tell. Still, it was awesome to see his character get fleshed out here after all these years, and I guess it is very fitting that his last role is one of the ones he is most famous for.
Final Thoughts on Final Destination: Bloodlines
I enjoyed Final Destination: Bloodlines, and I am sure I will watch it again before the year is out; however, I do not agree with the critics that this is the greatest entry in the series. It was a fun ride for sure, and it had some very creative and epic deaths. Yet, right now and granted, I have only seen it once, if I were ranking the Final Destination movies, this one would come in at number 5 for me. Again, that is not me saying it is bad at all, I did enjoy this, but I do like other entries more.
