Resident Evil 6 Review
The game’s fully focused on offering a great sense of immersion and the nice thing is that the story is always pushing onward. The short thing here is that you have four different characters that have a unique play style.
But the true focus is the same, you have to eliminate all the enemies and free the world from the corrupted that attack it again and again. There are tons of enemies and the game on its own is extremely long, which actually makes the gameplay super interesting and rewarding at the same time.
While it does take a while to get used to the overall game experience, you will be pretty impressed with it as it always pushes the boundaries and offers new gameplay ideas to consider all the time.
There’s a lot of variety in this game, and it mostly comes from the character you play. Leon has the survival horror aspect, Chris comes with the military shooter gameplay, then you have Jake that’s a martial artist and Ada that has stealth and other cool gadgets to use.
Despite feeling full of challenges, the game always pushes the boundaries and it manages to offer you some interesting and fun moments to explore all the time.
The level design is stellar here. Sure, there are some visual bugs and bad textures here and there, but for the most part, the gameplay is amazing and it always pushes the boundaries to get even better. The downside is that Resident Evil 6 does remove some of the survival horror aspects from the series and it’s more of an action game with horror elements.
It still works quite nicely for the most part, but you have to be very focused on the story and ignore the action side of things. It’s a bit sad because Resident Evil is a horror staple, so adding more action didn’t really do a lot of good.
They do have lots of mini-games and all of this blends very nicely to deliver a great experience all the time. It’s certainly a good idea to enter Resident Evil 6 with no expectations because it’s different when compared to the other titles in the series. It’s definitely full of challenging moments, but with enough patience, you can get past those and just have fun with the entire process. That’s what really sets the bar for Resident Evil 6 in this case.
Despite being ambitious, the game does hit some great notes. Yes, it's not the full horror experience you always wanted, but it's cool, it's fun and a great game to play. So if you like horror, this may not be right up your alley, but it will be close. Overall, it's a great game nonetheless and you should consider checking it out, as it has some cool moments and action set pieces.
