Ultimate Custom Night Review
Ultimate Custom Night features 50 cartoon characters, each with a unique name and characteristic. For example:
- Freddie Fazbear moves faster on the map as the temperature rises,
- Phantom Freddy fades away when a flashlight is pointed towards him,
- Nightmare Fredbear is invisible to the cameras,
- and Nedd Bear can climb and move through the vents present in the building.
The game begins as players get the option to select which cartoons they want to include in the game to protect themselves from. Each character has a difficulty starting from 0 to 20 and with each increment, that cartoon character becomes more difficult to prevent from coming into the office.
In the main menu, the game offers a total of 16 challenges to the players, combining different characters with different difficulty levels to face off against and prevent them from entering the player’s location. The challenges become more difficult each time but in return, players also receive points through which they unlock different features inside the game such as new maps.
Moving on to the actual gameplay, the players get to play a character in first-person mode who is sitting behind a desk. The players are in control of numerous mechanics at the same time which includes a power generator, ventilation, the heating system, Power AC, Global Music Box, Flashlight, Monitor, and controls that open and shut doors.
Each mechanic is assigned a specific hotkey on the keyboard which the players have to manipulate and use to come up with strategies to keep the cartoons out and survive until time runs out. What makes the game even more intense is that players not only have to control numerous factors, but they also have to keep track of the power that remains. At the beginning of each challenge, the players start off with 100% energy which they must use wisely as each mechanic requires a certain percentage of power to manipulate.
The game includes several unexpected jump scares as well even during the gameplay. As they are in the middle of planning and control mechanics, a terrifying doll will suddenly show up on screen screaming or howling loudly. Even when the player loses or runs out of power, the screen goes dark and a jump scare occurs, ending the game with a random haunting phrase each time.
Overall, Ultimate Custom Night is a game full of terror and jump scares which can literally make the players jump back from the screens. The game is also intense as it requires brainstorming and forming different techniques to control the mechanics while also maintaining power at the same time. The graphics are satisfactory, the gameplay is fun, and of course, the sudden appearances are terrifying which makes the game entertaining altogether.
