I know that the moment you hear that Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator is based on a Discovery Channel TV show you think LAME. That though is not the case and this is far better than many other TV show tie games have been in recent years.
How to Download Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator
The game is available as a Steam download. There are also several cool DLCs, such as Cardboard Pickup Mechanic (Papercraft), Custom Tuning Parts, and Garage Tunes (Soundtrack). If you like building cars have a look at our reviews of Automation – The Car Company Tycoon Game or My Summer Car.
The Game Review
So, what is the ultimate goal of Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator? Well, you start off with your own little rinky-dink kind of shop. The goal of the game is to build your shop up enough so that it resembles what is on TV. This is much easier said than done and you will really have to roll your sleeves up.
The game starts off great, by giving you more simple repairs to do for people. Each job that you take on will have a time limit and if you complete a job in the time limit, you get a nice little bonus. The way that you tackle the job is kind of up to you and that is something I really liked about the game.
For example, you can just buy the new parts you want online, or you can head to the scrapyard and see if there is something cheaper you can salvage. You eventually will work all the way up to building your own trucks and selling them for big money… as long as you have enough fans!
You see there is a delicate balancing act where you need money, but to make big money you need fans. So, you will have to do some advertising as well as making sure that you have some nice merch for them to buy also. Heck, you can even give away a truck! Sure, this will cost you money, but it will earn you more fans which could make you more money in the long run.
For a game that is based on a TV show, Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator actually has a ton of strategy in it. I have found it to be a very addictive game and it is even more so when you play with other people. You guys can work as a team and one of you can be taking care of the paint job while the other is working on the wheels for example.
You can also take those trucks you are playing around within your shop for a spin. You can take part in races. You do this not just for fun, but to make the trucks more famous which then means you can sell them for even more money. The racing portion of the game is way better than you would imagine and I personally fond it to be a whole lot of fun.
The presentation of Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator is quite good and it does feature the characters from the show. Heavy D, The Muscle, Red Beard, and Diesel Dave are all here. So, if you are a fan of the show you will get a real kick out of this. However, the overall game is solid enough that even if you have a passing interesting in the show, you will be able to enjoy it.
I have to admit that Diesel Brothers: Truck Building Simulator is way better than I thought it would be. This is a very solid and fun sim style game that has far more depth than you would think. At the same time, it is very easy to pick up and I felt I was always learning with each new job that I took on. If you are looking for something a little different, give this a try.
