The Game Review

Released by EA and developed by the legendary Maxis, The Sims games pride themselves on giving players a ton of different options of how to play the game.

If you would like to just build houses and fill them with stuff, that’s an option.

If you want to simulate raising a family, that, too, is here.

There really is so much to do in a Sims game that, really, a lot of it is up to the player.

How these titles thrive is on their downloadable content packs. And there are a lot of them.

Releasing some of the most extensive DLC in all of gaming, The Sims series often expands the scope of the original game through continual content updates. These can do everything from add gameplay options to merely giving the player more to choose from when spending their simoleons.

The Sims 4: Get Famous, like many of the expansion packs in the past, lets you put your sim on the road to stardom. As the title implies, it is a career-based DLC pack and expands the future options your sims can pursue to make that ever-needed money. As anyone who has played The Sims knows, money is pretty much everything in the game. See how true to life this life simulation can be?

It is similar to The Sims 3 expansion packs Late Night and Showtime and is similar to The Sims: Superstar. These titles let you explore the career path of a celebrity but weren’t as robust as what The Sims 4: Get Famous promises.

The new celebrity system will also have a fame ranking coming along with it. This will, ostensibly, be a measure of just how famous your sim is. We think this will probably correspond with how much money you make as well. In addition, there will be a new world for The Sims to explore called Del Sol Valley. We imagine this is modeled after California and Hollywood in particular.

But the fame meter won’t just apply to celebrity careers such as acting or singing. Other career paths will be impacted by this as well. This means that you can become well known and famous for being really good at your job. Not only does this mirror real life, but also it gives players the option to do things other than the traditional celebrity paths.

Graphically, the pack doesn’t do a lot to the game but does promise some new items to buy and some new clothing choices.
