I am pretty sure I have been made to suffer through the After series of movies for something bad I did in a past life. For whatever reason, my wife likes this series so I have been dragged along to all five of these movies, including this fifth and final movie in the series. Let me just say that I pray to God that this is the final chapter and there is not some kind of reboot, sequel, prequel, or anything else to do with this planned!

The Movie Review
Ugh, look, if you enjoyed the previous four movies, chances are there will be something here that you like. However, my wife who likes this series said that this was the worst one and it was not that great! If she says that, this has to be bad and it could not have just been the bad attitude and sense of dread that I had before the movie started!

Bait-and-Switch
This movie is a bit of a bait-and-switch. So far it has mainly been about the “love” story of Hardin and Tessa, but that is not really the case with After Everything. We get about five minutes of Tessa and Hardin stuff that feels like it is here just to tick a box and stop hardcore fans from freaking all the way out!
Dull Plot
The movie has a plot that is about as dull as dishwater. Hardin is a famous author and he needs to get his new book out there. However, Hardin has decided that he is going to head to Europe to make amends with a woman that he feels he wronged in the past……………sorry about that, I fell asleep writing that as the story in this movie is so boring!
Portugal Setting
Tessa telling Hardin to move on I feel was supposed to be all dramatic and make the audience accept him heading to Portugal to try and make amends with Natalie. The Portugal setting (I have no idea if it was actually filmed there) is cool and the only thing I liked about the movie, to be honest with you.
Conclusion
Look, After Everything sucks! I have not really liked any of the movies in this series, but this is like a whole new level of bad. It only lasts around 90 minutes, but I was so bummed out about being there I blew through all my snacks in like the first ten minutes which made sitting through the rest of this brutal love, redemption (or whatever the hell it was they were going for) story so much worse.
On the drive home, I asked my wife why she liked this series and she said that she liked the whole Hardin and Tessa romance. I think the fact that this was not part of this movie is what made even my wife who is a fan not like the movie. I have a bad feeling that they have said this is the last one, but they will somehow make another movie related to this universe and my wife will force me to go and see it! This movie sucks and I am not sure even the most diehard fans will love it.
