I had a fair bit of fun with the other volumes of this series. And when you think about it, what is there not to love, it is a game about cute cat girls that are wanting to please their master! With NEKOPARA Vol. 4, the story gets a bit more in-depth, goes international and I dare even say it gets a tad too convoluted for its own good.

The Game Review
In case you did not know, NEKOPARA Vol. 4 is a visual novel game and you have to have played the previous games to get into this. The basics of the story are that we have a young man called Kashou who tried to make a go of it by opening his own bakery. Things got weird and he opened a box that contained two Cat Girls in Vanilla and Chocolate.
With Volume 4 of the series, the cast of characters has grown, but Kashou is still the main character. Even though his bakery is doing very, very well, his dad still is not impressed. Rather than being happy with what he has, Kashou decides to go to France and get advice from his master.
There is of course a whole lot more to the story than that and there are some fun new characters in the mix too. There is a bit of charm to the story, but I feel this time around, a little bit of the heart of the story is missing. I am not saying it is bad or anything like that. However, it is a bit harder to actually care about Kashou trying to win his dad’s approval than some of the main plots from the previous volumes.
The gameplay on offer in NEKOPARA Vol. 4 is pretty much zero. This is a visual novel game where you do not get to dictate what is going on with the story. I do not mind this lack of choice when the story is well written and features characters that have clear motivations. Which is the case here, it is just the main story arc is not all that exciting.
What is pretty exciting is the fantastic visuals that the game has. This series is known for its amazing art and if Cat Girls get your motor running, you are in for a treat here. The version that is one STEAM is pretty “steamy”. However, if you want the XXX and I mean XXX with a capitol X sex content, you will have to find and download an additional patch for the game.
After I finished NEKOPARA Vol. 4 I was happy with what I experienced. It has the same kind of humor and cute Cat Girls that fans of the series will want and expect and that is good. I just felt that the overall story this time around did not grab me like the others (especially the first one) managed to do.
