The Game Review
The story of the game once again sees us playing as ourselves. The story is actually pretty nuts. Without giving too much away I can tell you that there is a darkness on the rise which basically involves an eternal PMS! You need to head to an island with the awesome and hilarious fairy, Kyu as you double date a bunch of girls and try to save the day.
Talking about the story of HuniePop 2: Double Date is really hard as when you say what it is about out loud it sounds like it makes no sense. However, when you are playing the game, the writing is done very well, and you kind of just go along for the ride. The voice acting is great, especially Kyu and I found myself laughing a lot at the stuff she would have to say.
This is a truly amazing-looking game. It features some fantastic artwork and each of the girls has her own look. Costumes play a major role in the game and there is a ton that you can unlock and dress the girls up with. Even without the patch, HuniePop 2: Double Date is a game that is very hot and steamy and there are plenty of sexy CGs for you to unlock.
The gameplay is what really makes this game shine in comparison to other lewd games. The main portion of the game is a match-three style of game. You have two girls in each level that you are “playing” with. This means you have to pay close attention to what you are doing to make sure each girl is happy. As far as a match-three game goes it is actually a lot of fun.
While there are two girls to keep an eye on, the game does not rush you so it is not super easy to make mistakes. When something does go wrong, it is usually because you were not paying attention. Of course, match-three is not the only gameplay style that is on offer here, you also have the dating sim/visual novel aspect too.
Here you need to communicate with each girl, say the right thing, do the right thing and please them with gifts. This usually happens as a result of you listening to what they have to say and then responding with what you feel is the right comment. It is pretty basic stuff as far as dating sim games go, but the voice acting and the writing help keep you invested in what is going on.
If you enjoyed the first game, you will no doubt enjoy what HuniePop 2: Double Date is offering. The whole double date/threesome aspect of the game is done very well. I really liked how the game did not take itself too seriously and it is a game that I had a great deal of fun with.
