Let me start by saying that I am not what you would call a trainspotter. As a matter of fact, apart from riding on them, you could write what I know about trains on the back of a postage stamp. Still, games like Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 have always had a weird appeal to me.

The Game Review
So what is the point of Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019? Well, that depends on what you want from it. If you are big into trains then you will get a real kick out of the detailed train models and how you can drive the trains. This is something I am sure train enthusiasts will have a lot of fun with and from what I have read, the developers have gone above and beyond to make each train feel and look as lifelike as possible.
So you can drive the trains, make sure they get where they need to go on time, pick up passengers, drag your haul or whatever is required. You have different levels of control. You can let the AI do it, you can have simplified controls or you can take full controls. For me, simplified controls were the way to go, but if this is more your thing I think the full controls will be what you want.
The presentation is actually quite good. I have heard some people put it down, but I thought that the world and the different trains all looked good. I have noticed some people are not too happy with the performance of the game and I did notice that it would stutter from time to time, but it was never enough to spoil the game for me.
There are many different routes (I think there are 11 including DLC) and you can customize these in a ton of different ways. To be honest with you I had fun just driving the trains around and getting them to their destination. I do think though for you train enthusiast you will love how much is at your disposal here. I found it a little bit daunting, but then again I am not the games target demographic.
One thing I did play around with is the world building tools. Now I just had what Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 offered me, but if you have the past games you can actually use content from those games too. From the sounds of it if you have past content you can have over 2000 different items to play around with. That is insane! But I mean that in a very good way.
I actually had a lot of fun with Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019. I am not a train enthusiast at all, but driving the trains was fun and messing around with the world building was great. I was very impressed with how in-depth this was and my Bob Ross inspired winter wonderland that I created was really neat. If you love trains and are willing to put some serious time into it, Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 is going to be a game you really get hooked on.
