Fishing Simulator offers a very distinct experience of gameplay in the form of the single-player mode. For starters, after players make their user profiles, they have to choose from a number of maps.
The intriguing part lies in the fact that each map holds its specific set of fishes that can be caught. These factors are set upon real-life elements such as the height, temperature, and the type of surroundings. In addition, the maps are also named and built upon real locations.
Once the map is selected, the player’s character sets up a spot from where they attach the bait and throw the line into the lake from where they wait patiently. The whole process of catching fish is very complex in its own entirety.
Players have to set up the exact length of the reel they would want to use, as well as cast the reel at specific places within the lake that can yield fish quicker than the average waiting time.
The quality of fish and the time to catch them depends a lot upon the bait used as well. The fish caught by the players can, in turn, either be sold off in the market in exchange for money or can be released back into the lake, allowing the players to gain experience.
Both money and experience are essential in order to progress in the game. At the beginning of the game, players start off with the most basic equipment. Players have the option to use the money earned in order to purchase equipment of higher quality including fishing rods, reels, lines, boats, hooks, spoons, baits, spinners, and wobblers.
Using better equipment means that players are more likely to catch heavier and rarer fish that are bound to sell for a better price. Without experience, however, no purchasable item can be worn by the player. In order to wield those items, players are required to have a certain level, and that level can only be earned by experience the player gains as part of the gameplay.
Apart from unlocking physical equipment, the game allows the players to enhance their character’s skills as well. These skills can include increased casting strength, hunting vision, an additional percentage of experience, and availing discounts at the fishing store.
