I thought that 2025’s Dhurandhar was a really solid Hindi action movie. Ranveer Singh was fantastic in the lead role of Hamza, and I was excited to see what he would get up to in this sequel. Hamza was a very cool character, and in the last movie, we found out that he was actually a former convict who had been turned into an undercover spy and was now infiltrating a gang in Pakistan.

The Movie Review
I am greatly simplifying things there, but that first movie was a fun action movie with some real-world political thriller elements, and the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is more of the same. However, I did not feel that this one was quite as good. It was still a decent action movie, but for me, this was more style over substance.
Hamza Returns for a New Mission
Once again, Hamza is called into save the day, and this time, Hamza is going up against an organization who are planning devastating attacks on India, and he finds himself deep undercover trying to stop it. I have to say, most of the politics in this movie went completely over my head, and I had a hard time knowing exactly what was going on. The thing with this is that I can see why this would be something that others would immensely enjoy.
Action, Violence, and Runtime
For me, a movie that lasts four hours with a plot that I am having a hard time sticking with is very hard to stay interested in. Thankfully, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has some of the most awesome over-the-top violence and gore that I have seen in a Hindi action movie! Honestly, this was insane, and it was this that kept me from saying that I had had enough and potentially walking out of the theatre.
Comparing Dhurandhar: The Revenge to the First Movie
Let me say, I am 100 percent in the minority here, as this movie is rated very highly and most people seem to love it and say it is even better than the first. For me, this one just did not hit the same, and a huge part of that was the length. The thing is, the first movie lasts around the same kind of runtime, but that one had me much more invested, as I truly wondered if Hamza was going to get out of this situation alive.
The Ending and Final Twist
In Dhurandhar: The Revenge, I never actually felt like Hamza was in any danger of being killed. I did wonder if he would be screwed over by the government at the end. However, there is a twist at the end of the movie with a reveal that I never saw coming in a million years, and the reason I never saw it coming was that it did not make sense to me at all! I have been racking my brain since seeing the movie to think if I missed something, but I cannot think of what I could have missed that could have foreshadowed this in order to make it make sense and not just be a twist for the sake of being a twist.
Final Thoughts on Dhurandhar: The Revenge
Part of me wonders if I had watched this at home on streaming and been able to pause it or even watch it in a couple of sittings, if I would have liked it more. If I am being honest, I am not sure I would have gone back to it if I paused it or turned it off with the intent of watching the second part another day, if I were watching this at home. Hey, at the end of the day, this is just my opinion, and other movie lovers seem to like this, some even more so than the first movie. For me, there are very few movies that need to last four hours, and this movie was not one of them.
